A deceptive path between rice fields

Azemichi (A Path Between Rice Fields)

In 1991, Japanese artist Makoto Aida created this photo-realistic painting combining a schoolgirl's parted hair and a rice field. Much of his artwork is controversial and deliberately provocative, and explores his love / hate relationship with aspects of Japanese culture.
